Unboxing Claude
A lot of people like to ask when an artist “began”. The trouble with answering a question like that is that a lot of us never really “stopped”, myself included. By trade, my mom is a graphic designer, and as a result, she brought home a lot of design goodies that helped me form my artistic identity, such as yet-to-be-digitized type books and scraps of luxury paper from big print jobs. My work in the art and design fields were encouraged: my first “commission” took place when I was about 10, and if I created a silly picture book or comic, it had the potential to be turned into a “real” book, with binding and everything.
When I got to late high school, I joined the Wilson Talent Center’s (previously known as the Capital Area Career Center) New Media class, and it was a shoe-in fit. That class guided my pathway to Lansing Community College, where I graduated with an Associates degree in Graphic Communications. During that time, I ran art tables with my then-boyfriend at conventions and markets on occasion, and had my work in Greater Lansing Art and Gifts along with the art of my now-husband.
Once I graduated, I was hired on to BIGGBY COFFEE Home Office’s Fanatic Factory team as a Communications Associate. That gave me the opportunity to work on some really neat marketing projects (see Engagement for a non-exhaustive list). After a few years, I took a break from trying to professionally pursue art and design careers and headed to Davenport University, where I earned a Bachelors degree in Marketing, along with an Excellence in Civic and Social Responsibility Certification. I used this new knowledge to pursue art and design again, but this time for personal growth instead of trying to monetize it.
Right now, I work as a Customer Support Analyst. While customer service and SQL databases were not my first selection, I am incredibly privileged and also had the opportunity to run a few mini projects (see: Portfolio). I also am the Content Coordinator for our DEI Council and a co-chair for our disability Employee Resource Group.
If my work excites you, let’s work together to create something you’ll love!
I seek to understand complex ideals in our lifetimes. As we explore this gigantic story we call life, I find I am a storyteller, a creative, a maker. I have a natural zest for love and ideas. When people see my work, I’d like them to think about their own life, love, and dreams.

I have a lot of projects I am trying to work on! There’s a light novel (Haunts of Loarne), a podcast (From Art to Zine!), markets to sell at (follow me on Facebook or Instagram to see when), and a whole YouTube channel to upkeep. Want to follow my professional journey? Follow me on LinkedIn!
